At the 1996 Olympics, the first time beach volleyball was ever included as a sport, Kiraly won the gold medal. During the 1999 season, he set the career open victory mark at 141 and counting. In 1988, serving as team captain and most valuable player, he won the gold medal in the Olympics for indoor volleyball. He also won the gold four years earlier in the Olympics and was appointed National Team captain in 1995. Kiraly is expected to capture the gold again at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney.
